Interesting article on how Google's DCs operate:

Google’s Custom Web Server, Revealed « Data Center Knowledge

They have been setting up container based DCs since 2005, without it becoming public domain!

Another interesting article from 2006 ( Login to DIGITIMES archive & research ) states that Google is shipping about 30,000 units each month which is about 360,000 per year!
