The following will be sent to all VPS customers shortly:

Quote:
This is a courtesy reminder email in regards to the new bandwidth billing system that will be implmented for our Windows and Linux VPS plans.

The new billing system has started counting bandwidth this month, and any overages for October will be billed on or after the 1st of November.

Where can I check your bandwidth usage and bandwidth limit?

You can view your bandwidth graphs, usage, and limits from within the Manage Account area on our site:

1. Visit Australian Web Hosting & Business Web Hosting – Crucial Paradigm Australia and on the top right hand side of the site click the Manage Account button.
2. Once logged in click on My Services, and scroll down the page to the VPS you wish to view the bandwidth for.
3. In the column next to the due date, click the on the arrow icon.
4. This will bring you to the page which lists your bandwidth usage. From here you can see the percentage of limited used this month, your bandwidth limit, and a graph of the usage over time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You should not go by the bandwidth graph in HyperVM/VPS Control area (for Linux), these values are not 100% correct. If you wish to view your bandwidth usage please use the Manage Account area method to view your bandwidth usage. If you receive an email from hypervm@10.5.0.12 with the subject "Hypervm Message" please disregard this message, it is coming from HyperVM and is likely to show the incorrect bandwidth usage.

Bandwidth is charged for both incoming and outgoing traffic. The graph displays the metrics (bytes, kb, mb, or gb) on the top left hand side of the graph under calibration.

Will I be billed for both incoming and outgoing bandwidth?

Yes, the new system will count both incoming and outgoing bandwidth.

If you have any feedback regarding the system, please send an email to feedback@crucial.com.au with the Subject "Bandwidth Billing & Account System" .

Do we get a reminder email when we're nearing going over? That would be REALLY handy with so many different services.

Does bandwidth pool between services too or can we do that? I think I read somewhere on here that someone was running a couple of front end VPS's and two others that were only serving the front end VPS's.

Hi Greg-Mega,

Currently there is no email reminder though this feature is on the top of our list add soon!

Sorry currently we do not support bandwidth pooling. If and when we implement this feature we will be sure to send out announcements regarding it.

My feedback -

You really need to get that in place because monitoring all my services with you is a time taking task and when things can change within a day (or even hours) it becomes something I almost have to check on at least daily. That and I HATE surprise invoices like I received today - not so much the amount but I would have like to have known that something was coming.

If there was an API available I'd write my own alerts but at the moment your system feels unfinished and not really what I had come to expect from CP in the last 2 years I've been with them.

I'm happy to pay for what I use, but I'd like to know about it before getting the bill without having to stuff around logging in to monitor it constantly.

Thanks for the feedback, always appreciated. I understand where you are coming from, in regards to the missing features.

Our first focus was to get the counting and graphing happening correctly along with the billing side of things. Now we have done this, we can move onto the bells and whistles such as email notifications.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the feedback, I have been developing this system for a while now and I can assure you that in the roadmap the next item is indeed email notifications.

I expect this to be in before the end of the year

Cheers,
