Ticket TWS-113395 (continued)

Backups out of date again. Last one is the 21st. The 'solution' last time was to run them every second day and hope they finish in time. Hope I don't get charged overages for having to run off-server backups myself. I'm also assuming no one monitors them either. There doesn't seem to be a solution for this other than restarting a CRON job.

Hi androo,

The backups are definitely monitored. The issue is that HyperVM is not backing up quick enough, and is taking longer some days than others. We are working on a script which will take more granular backups and should help alleviate this issue.

I'm just frustrated that I have to check all the time. Backups that I pay for should be able to be relied upon. This is the ONLY gripe I have about Crucial. Other than this, I'm extremely happy with the service and the pricing. If you can get this fixed up it'll be perfect for me. Serious.

I hope it gets sorted soon.

Sure, I completely understand. We have our sysadmin working on this currently, and working on a work around as quickly as possible.

If this issue does take much longer to fix, you are more than welcome to request credit for the time frames backups have been unavailable to you.

Awesome. Is there any point at all in me raising yet another ticket when quite obviously no one gives a shit? No backups on my VPS since 23 Feb. Do I request a refund now or wait until the bill comes through?

androo, we definitely do care about this and we are working on it. If you are not happy with the backup service in its current state we are more than happy to provide a refund for the time you have been having issues. We are looking into a few different more advanced options for backups which we might use to replace the current backup system entirely.
