Default PHP Configure Command

Looking for some guideance in adding things to php, like the ability for exif. I know I need to have --enable-exif in the configure command, but how to I recompile php with a changed configure command on centos?

I didn't, it was already installed.

It has been suggested I look at easyapache.

Yes, if you are using cPanel on your VPS then then you can use easyapache ( /scripts/easyapache ) to install PHP addons.

Thanks, easyapache worked for what I needed.

Next question, on my old hosting I could have a php.ini file in a directory and it would override things from the global php.ini file.

Now when I do a phpinfo() in that directory I notice the local php.ini file isn't being loaded. Says:
* Scan this dir for additional .ini files - (none)
* Additional .ini files parsed - (none)

How do I get php to load a local php.ini file?

I think you need to be running suphp to be able to do this, however you may need to look into that further...
