Asp.net forms authentication cookie not working

I recently had a problem with forms authentication and athorization on one of the VPS servers I administer.

* The user would attempt to login to the site, the page would post back, but no redirection to the correct page would occur.

* The login page would correctly validate the username and password however, so if an incorrect password was entered the error message would show.

* This problem only occurred after some backup software had been installed on the server.

The forms authentication cookie was not being received by the client over ssl connection.

-- to see if it was the website I transferred it on to another vps server and change the DNS settings and the site worked no problem.


-- Long story short after 2 dyas googling a thousand posts with no real solution, looked at the Time/Date of each server. The Time/Date was out by 24hrs on the server that was not working and fixed the problem.

-- Redirected the dns settings back to the offending server and back in action.
