You get access to backups via HyperVM. It looks similar to your standard Windows file manager and contains a backups of the entire VPS. The backup is scheduled automagically daily and you have no control over when it runs.
You can restore a single file or a whole directory or anything in between. You can restore in two ways. Firstly, by using the restore method in HyperVM which is a copy/paste procedure. You copy out of the backup file manager and into the live file system however once you do that you need to boot the VPS to do the actual 'restore'. Another method (and my preferred one at this time) is to download the file(s) that need to be restored and FTP them into the account concerned. So far this has worked for me but if a client needs their whole account restored I'll probably need to do it via the reboot method in which case it'd need to be scheduled. I reckon if the client has bollocksed up that badly, they'll be so darn pleased I have a backup, they won't mind waiting until 2am to get it back There's a three-day rotation so you only get access to the last three days with of backups which is ok but I'd like to see five. Hope that helps!! |
