My sites been running pretty slow lately & i was wondering if anyone had tips to speed up website & VPS performance.

According to google webmaster, it takes over 9 seconds to load my homepage. If anyone can help, Ill really appreciate it!!!

If you are running PHP, you can look into a PHP caching application such as xchache. If you are running MySQL you can tweak the caching settings in my.cnf to help improve performance.

Ive set up my server to compress its files which seems to have sped my site up. I found this blog which explains the process pretty well. All can can do is recomend people create a backup of any files they might change.

IIS Compression in IIS6.0 - Scott Forsyth's Blog

Another tip for people is for them to download firebug and the page speed addon for firefox. It helped me discover areas that needed improved. Worth checking out in my opinion

Hope it helps!
